Retirement: 1984 VW Rabbit GTI

Well, it was time to retire the 1984 Rabbit GTI in August of 2006 as I just finished the build on my 2001 VW Golf 1.8T. Can't have too many cars. My original plan was to move all the parts, including the cage, over to a Rabbit shell that I had been holding onto for years. But... cash and space was needed for the new car, so out with the old, and in with the new. Photos below summarize the disassembly of the Rabbit that had been so good to me over the years. My nephew James even came up to help at one point.  I sold the shell to someone local who was looking to put all his Rabbit parts into a caged shell; all the other parts of my Rabbit are still in the garage (sold some).  One day I'll get back into racing Rabbits as they are a blast to drive.
